South Shore wedding venues: country clubs, gardens, and estates

South of Boston, from Hingham and Scituate down to Plymouth and inland to Canton, Wrentham, and Rehoboth, weddings mostly happen at country clubs, garden venues, and a few historic estates. Many of them handle a lot of the wedding for you, and prices start lower than in Boston or on the North Shore.

South Shore venues include more of your vendors than most of Massachusetts. Clubs and garden venues here often bring the music, rentals, and a coordinator along with the food, so there's less for you to organize. Most also say what happens if it rains. The tradeoff is that almost none have rooms, so your guests will need a hotel nearby.

Garden or lakeside

Garden venues in East Bridgewater and Assonet, and a lakeside hall in Wrentham. Ask how many weddings they host in a day and whether you have the grounds to yourselves.

Historic house or inn

An estate in Canton, a historic house in Scituate, and an inn with barns in Rehoboth where you can bring your own caterer and guests can stay over.

A club package can include the DJ, linens, and a coordinator, which is easier but gives you less say. If you already have a band or florist in mind, ask whether you can swap them in and what that changes.

Choose the hotel with the venue

Almost no venue here has rooms, and the towns are spread out. Pick a hotel close to the venue you like, and ask whether the venue has a hotel it usually works with.

Check the date before the package

Many venues here charge less on a Friday, a Sunday, or outside the busiest months, sometimes by a lot. Ask for the price on two or three dates before you pick a package.
